New Milestone Inspection Report – Required Document Update
11.18.24

As announced on March 26, 2024, PolicyCenter® requires a Building Safety Inspection for certain buildings located in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. A new document, the Milestone Inspection Report, will be required if a current Building Safety Inspection report has not been previously completed. This change will be required effective January 1, 2025, for new-business and policy changes to add a building for condominium association and cooperative association buildings in all counties when the following conditions are true:

  • Building is three or more stories
  • Building has more than three units
  • Building is at least 30 years old

Milestone Inspection Report Document

The Milestone Inspection Report has been created as a submission requirement to include all counties in Florida for buildings that are generally at least 30 years old. This will replace the older Miami-Dade and Broward counties’ Building Safety Inspection form to streamline the process and reduce underwriting delays by eliminating the need to request this document after submission.

PolicyCenter will display the following message:

Provide a copy of the most current “Building Safety” or “Milestone” inspection report completed by a Professional Engineer or Architect registered in Florida.

Note: This report will still be required every 10 years once a building is at least 30 years old. Reminder, as indicated in our Underwriting Guidelines, an underwriter can request any information deemed necessary to underwrite the risk.
