Terms of Use and Content Moderation Policy

Policy and Disclaimer

Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (Citizens) actively manages and operates publicly facing pages on third-party social media sites (social media) for communicating, posting, disseminating and viewing content or multimedia assets. By engaging with, accessing, browsing or using Citizens’ social media sites, you accept the Terms of Use and Content Moderation Policy (Terms). The Terms only apply to accounts managed by Citizens on social media platforms hosted by third parties. Web sites and web applications hosted by Citizens are governed by separate user agreements or terms of use.

Citizens reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of this site will constitute acceptance of any revisions to the Terms.

Citizens operates and maintains its social media sites as a public service to provide information about Citizens’ programs, services, projects, issues, events and activities. Citizens assumes no liability for any inaccuracies these social media sites may contain and does not guarantee that the social media sites will be uninterrupted, permanent or error‐free.

In addition to these Terms, you are also subject to the terms of use of the social media platform in which you are participating. Please consult that platform’s terms of use for further information.

All social media platforms used by Citizens are designated as Limited Public Forums. Citizens welcomes a person’s right to express their opinion and encourages posters to keep comments relevant to the topic in question.

Posting/Moderation Policy

Citizens respects the open forum nature of social media, however, we request that comments remain clean and appropriate. We do not allow graphic, obscene, profane or explicit comments or submissions nor do we allow comments that are abusive, disruptive, threatening, harassing, hateful, discriminatory or intended to defame anyone or any organization or comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity. Inappropriate comments, comments unrelated to the purpose of the page or comments not related to the specific post are subject to deletion by Citizens. Not complying with posting guidelines may result in contact by an administrator and your message will be removed. Should you choose to post additional inappropriate content, you may be contacted by an administrator and your profile will be blocked from further posting to the site.

Public Records

You should be aware that all messages or comments you post or send on Citizens’ social media pages, whether publicly accessible or through a private messaging function, are subject to Florida’s Public Records Laws.

Links and Embedded Content

It is not necessary to get advance permission to link to Citizens social media sites or embed Citizens social media; however, entities and individuals linking to Citizens social media sites should not in any way suggest that Citizens has any relationship or affiliation with that entity or individual or that Citizens, sponsors or recommends the information, products or services of that site.

Not Official Communication

Messages sent via social media do not constitute formal policy communications. Policy changes, claims, or other policy actions cannot be completed via social media.
